How to clean-install an NVIDIA driver after an installation failure
Driver installation failures can be caused by background applications or Windows Update running at the same time. NVIDIA documents a manual clean-install path using the latest Game Ready Driver installer.
Prepare before installing
Download the official NVIDIA driver and close open applications first, especially GPU monitoring or tuning utilities, media players, browsers and 3D-accelerated applications.
Avoid overlapping Windows Update
A background Windows Update driver installation can conflict with a manual NVIDIA installation. Let the Windows update activity finish before retrying.
